Burn After Reading Trailer

26 06 2008

Trailer for the Coen Brothers’ new film, Burn After Reading, starring Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, and J.K. Simmons.

I was beyond excited when they announced the cast of this film , and this trailer only further fuels that excitement. The Coens don’t don’t disappoint often, and I don’t expect to be let down by this one either. This looks wild.

‘Burn After Reading’ Release Date Announced

5 03 2008

I am very excited for Burn After Reading. It may even be my most anticipated film of the year, and I’m glad it is solidifying well. This comes from Yahoo News:

“Moviegoers won’t to have wait long to see the next film from Joel and Ethan Coen, the Oscar-winning brothers behind “No Country For Old Men.”

Their next project, the dark espionage comedy “Burn After Reading,” will be released September 12 via Focus Features, the studio said Monday. The cast includes George Clooney, John Malkovich, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand, Joel Coen’s wife.”

This cast is stacked with so much talent it is ridiculous. I can’t see any way for this film to go south. The Coen brothers are some of the best creative minds in the business (personal favorites of mine), and with their Oscars for No Country For Old Men it isn’t any surprise that they’ve attracted all this talent. They are masters of dark comedy and they’ve brought in people like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and John Malkovich, who are equally suited for the genre. September is still a ways away, but It’s comforting to have something to look forward to.

Bill Murray and Jim Jarmusch Team Up Again

14 02 2008

Exciting news, at least for me. Bill Murray has signed on for The Limits of Control, which will be his third film with Jarmusch after Coffee and Cigarettes and Broken Flowers both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. The rest of the cast looks great as well. This comes from the kind souls at /Film:

“Actress Tilda Swinton, hot off Michael Clayton and a Broken Flowers co-star, is also on board alongside Gael Garcia Bernal (The Science of Sleep). Their roles have not been identified as of yet, and a few star cameos are said to be expected.

The film is set in Spain and follows “a mysterious loner as he attempts to complete a criminal job.” Memorable actor Isaach De Bankole, who played the French ice cream man in the director’s classic Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, will play the loner.”

Bill Murray has his plate full for a while, as Get Smart comes out this Summer, followed by City of Ember in the Fall. He is also working on The Fantastic Mr. Fox with Wes Anderson, which is set to come out next year. It is great to see that one of my all-time favorite actors is still getting work, and quality work at that.
